In the past, I have ran a static Jekyll site hosted on Netlify, but in this latest version I decided to embrace the “platform” and use Squarespace.

Why?

Squarespace lets me focus on the creation of content vs the creation of the site. It offers a nice publishing experience, easy information architecture, and the “platform” is usually always up to date.

Could I build something similar as a static site and host it for free on github? Heck yeah and I would probably use something like Gatsby as an alternative to Jekyll.
